The Gospel, the Good News of God's saving and redeeming work in Jesus Christ, was planned from before the creation of the world and is expressed in "the glory of Christ, who is the image of God". This Gospel message of Christ proclaims a status (salvation), generates a condition (sanctification), and recognizes a reality (the Kingdom of God). Christ is the foundation of Maranatha. All of our values are an expression of what He has done and continues to do through His church. Not only is He our representative and substitute who saves us from the penalty of our sins, His life, death, and resurrection are our motivation for godly living and service. As Paul writes, "glory to [the Father] in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Let it be so." (Ephesians 3:21)
Core Values
-
Founded on Christ
-
Grounded in Scripture
God’s Word is absolute truth. Scripture is our essential foundation for all we believe, teach and practice. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2nd Timothy 3:16-17)
-
Powered by Prayer
Prayer is our life connection with God. Prayer allows flawed and sinful people to connect with a holy, powerful and personal God. Prayer is power for living. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
-
Responding in Worship
Worship is something we do together regularly. It is both an event and a way of life. From singing to serving, we proclaim our love for God and thankfulness to Him in a variety of ways and styles. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. (Romans 12:1)
-
Intentional in Discipleship
Disciples follow Christ. They imitate and serve Him. We seek to strategically and fully equip every generation of our church family to follow Christ by making disciples who make disciples. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
-
Committed to Evangelism
Our commitment is to make it a priority to reach into all generations and share the gospel (good news) of salvation by grace through faith. Jesus Christ is the Savior, and forgiveness of sins and eternal life is only available through him. We commit to bring this message of hope to Barron County and the rest of the world Christ died to save. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
-
Characterized by Love
If love is not characteristic of our church community, it doesn’t matter how well we teach or how excellent our church programming. Christ loved sacrificially and then he said for us to go and do likewise. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13: 34-35)
